When you walk into Volente Beach Resort’s restaurant, Beachside Billy’s, you walk back in time…

 

What is now the entrance to Beachside Billy’s is the original home of the Sea Island Inn, a restaurant that dates back to the 1950’s. Not only did the builders of Mansfield Dam use Sea Island Inn as their local hangout, but rumors persist that Lyndon Baines Johnson would “hide out” here to avoid voting in the Texas Senate. No joke!

 

After sitting vacant, the property was purchased in the 1990’s and the restaurant building was expanded to what is now Beachside Billy’s. In 1998, the Waterpark, Pools and Beach were added and over the coming years, they added the outdoor patio, Blu’s Bar and Ritaville, our fabulous outdoor stage and party area.

 

The property has gone through various name changes since then but one thing has not changed – the incredible piece of land and views that is Volente Beach Resort.

 

Sitting on over five acres, Volente Beach Resort is one of the most iconic pieces of property in Austin. Current owners and Austin locals, the Lyne and Weedman families, have invested heavily in upgrading the facilities while still maintaining the nostalgia of the property.
